About Us
Government Polytechnic, Awasari (Khurd) is one of the newly established institutes in Maharashtra, set up in the academic year 2008–09 by the Higher & Technical Education Department, Government of Maharashtra, to impart technical education and inculcate technical skills among rural and tribal communities for their sustainable development. The institute aims to make students competent entrepreneurs who can provide effective and efficient services to society. Its objective is to create a technically skilled human resource and entrepreneurs who can contribute to increasing the nation’s GDP and set a benchmark as a model polytechnic.
The institute offers diploma programs in engineering, affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE), Mumbai, and recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

The institute is surrounded by three major MIDCs: Chakan (26 km – an automobile hub with numerous international automobile industries), Pimpri-Chinchwad (40 km – one of the largest industrial belts in the region), and Ranjangaon (50 km). It is also located about 65 km from Pune city, a major center of education and industry. Situated at the foothills of the Sahyadri ranges, the campus is close to several significant cultural and historical sites, including the Jyotirlinga of Bhimashankar to the west, the Ashtavinayak temples of Ozar, Lenyadri, and Ranjangaon, and the historic Shivneri Fort.
The institute is spread over 17 acres and features a well-developed infrastructure, including the Academic and Administrative Building (21,000 sq. m.), a Mechanical Workshop, an Automobile Workshop, a Girls’ Hostel (capacity 288), a Boys’ Hostel (capacity 336), faculty and staff quarters, and a playground. The institute building was inaugurated by the former Union Agriculture Minister, Hon. Sharadchandraji Pawar, on 15th January 2011.
